چکیده

A combination of a simple and universal crop growth simulator (SUCROS) of van Keulen et al. [van Keulen, H., Penning de Vries, F.W.T., Drees, E.M., 1982. A summary model for crop growth. In: Penning de Vries, F.W.T., Laar van, H.H. (Eds.), Simulation of Plant Growth and Crop Production. Simulation Monographs, Pudoc, Wageningen] with a water balance model (WBM) of Arora et al. [Arora, V.K., Prihar, S.S., Gajri, P.R., 1987. Synthesis of a simpli®ed water use simulation model for predicting wheat yields. Water Resources Res. 23, 903±910] along with some modi®cations was assessed for predicting maize growth and yield in variable climatic and water supply regimes. Model assessment showed that simulated biomass and grain yield of maize were close to the measured data in medium water-retentive sandy loam; while in low retentive loamy sand, biomass was over-predicted for most of water supply regimes. Poor performance of the model in the loamy sand appears due to the reason that the maize grown on such soils during hot and monsoonal rainy season generally suffers more from soil-related constraints other than water stress. The analysis indicates the adequacy of the combination model in medium water-retentive soils. # 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

The Crop Growth Monitoring System (CGMS) has been applied for spatial biophysical resource analysis of Borkhar & Meymeh district in Esfahan province, Iran. The potentially suitable area for agriculture in the district has been divided into 128 homogeneous land units in terms of soil (physical characteristics), weather and administrative unit. Crop parameters required in the WOFOST simulatio...

Maize (Zea Mays L.) Growth and Yield Response to Ethephon Application under Water Stress Conditions

The aim of the present investigation was to study the growth, yield and yield components of maize (Zea mays L.) single cross 704 under different levels of irrigation, plant density, and ethephon in southern Iran where this particular crop has not yet been studied in detail. A field experiment was performed in the 2004 5 growing season at the experimental farm of the College of Agriculture, Shir...

مدلی ساده برای پیش‌بینی عملکرد دانه ذرت هیبرید سینگل کراس 704

To predict growth and yield, it is needed to study sub-models of phenology, dry matter production and partitioning, leaf area variations and soil water balance. In the present study, for predicting yield of maize under Isfahan conditions, parameters of the sub-models in the aforementioned model were estimated using data of planting dates between 1988 and 2004 in Isfahan region and data of oth...

Estimation of Potential Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient of Maize at Rupandehi District of Nepal

This study was conducted to determine the potential evapotranspiration (PET) of maize, the crop coefficient (Kc) under full water requirement as well as the cause of decrease in maize yield. It was determined that the seasonal PET of maize is about 486.6 mm. The Kc under full water supply was found to be: 0.11, 0.35, 1.51 and 0.34 for initial, development, midseason and the late season stages r...
